He is a half-human, half-manta hybrid creature with a manta's head on a body resembling that of an african-american. On his first cameos he appeares with his normal outfit from DC franchise. Since "Finding Aquaman" he is shown wearing a white tank top with a gold necklace on his neck, aqua-colored shorts, and lime green slippers that look almost like crocs. He even wields a lilac-colored trident.

Black Manta is a grouchy middle-aged man, who hates moving around. He is very lazy to the point of letting go his flow. However, sometimes he can be very sly, such as trapping Aquaman and the Titans in his fish tank as his captives.
