The Brainy Brawlers are a roller derby group from Teen Titans Go! that faced the Gotham City Sirens with Starfire and Raven in the Super Roller Derby in the episode Jam.

History[]

In Jam, Raven and Starfire are recruited by Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman to join their roller derby team, the "Gotham City Sirens". Their opponents are the "Brainy Brawlers", who Ivy claims are "one of the roughest, toughest teams in the league". This claim is proven once the derby starts and the girls have a hard time keeping up with the team's strong muscles and telekinetic powers.

They decide to play just as dirty and begin using their own superpowers, which helps put them on equal footing and nearly ties the score. But with the Brainy Brawlers still in the lead, they form their Brawler Wall, making it impossible for Starfire to skate past them and score the winning point. The Sirens use their Roller Vault move to jump over the wall and win the derby.

After, the Gotham City Sirens walk outside to find a note attached to their car. This note claimed the Brainy Brawlers had stolen their manager, Louie. It is revealed that this was a trick by the three villainesses so Raven and Starfire would help them rob a bank.

The Brainy Brawlers consist of five unnamed women. All of them are taller than characters like Starfire, with the tallest being nearly three times as tall. They are also all very muscular, especially in their arms and chests, including large pectorals, thick necks, and visibly defined abs. Their matching roller derby uniforms, consisting of sleeveless black shirts with white stripes, their team logo which is of a brain with horns, and matching black shorts. They wear white elbow and knee pads and red helmets, aside from the jammer who wears a white helmet with a red star on it. They all seem to be very egoistical and are not above cheating during races in order to win.

From shortest to tallest:

  • A noirette with a mohawk. She has sharp teeth and sinister eyes. She is the team's jammer, indicated by the star on her helmet, meaning she and the opposing jammer are the only one able to score points and must begin the race behind both team's blockers.
  • A green-haired girl. She often looks bored with a blank expression.
  • A light-brunette with dreadlocks. She is usually smiling and flexing.
  • A ginger with large, poofy hair. She is often smiling and antagonizing her opponents.
  • A noirette with flat hair. She has a very large chin and rarely emotes or moves.

Powers and Abilities[]

Skills[]

  • Super Strength: Their large muscles aren't just for show, as they are shown to be very strong. They can effortlessly shove multiple of their opponents with little effort.
    • Iron Butt: Their butts alone are strong enough to slam an opponent so hard it can cause significant pain in their gut.
  • Durability: Members are able to survive very strong attacks. One quickly recovered from being flattened into a disc by Harley Quinn's hammer and being smacked in the mouth by a concrete slab.
  • Telekinesis: They all posses telekinetic powers.
    • Object Levitation: With ease, they can break off, lift an iron fence and throw them into their opponents.
    • Creature Manipulation: They can freeze players in place from seemingly any distance.
  • Brawler Wall: During a race, the Brain Brawlers can fuse together into a "Brawler Wall". This creates a towering wall that prevents players from passing them. In this state, members can break their limbs free.

Weaknesses[]

  • Human Weakness: Despite their superhuman abilities, they are still susceptible to powerful attacks like Starfire's energy-beams.
  • Balance Issues: When skating, they can still be tripped by Catwoman's lasso or Poison Ivy's vines. Even Starfire throwing jam can be enough to throw them off-balance.

  • In some of the early concept art, the Brainy Brawlers wore purple rather than black, and their logo had a bicep rather than horns.
  • Perhaps unintentionally, one of the Brawlers resembles Giganta (Doris Zeul) from DC Super Hero Girls.
  • Despite never saying any dialogue, they do appear to have voices.
