"Cartoon Feud" is the forty-seventh episode of the fifth season of Teen Titans Go!, and the two-hundred-fifty-sixth overall episode of the series.

Synopsis[]

Control Freak forces the Titans and the Scooby-Doo Gang to compete on a cartoon-themed edition of Family Feud.

Plot[]

Another normal day at Titans Tower: the Titans are excited to see America's favorite game show Family Feud when Control Freak shows up, making the Titans bored. Control Freak shows the Titans' show on local programming and Cyborg replies, "I guess the network's giving the people what they want." Beast Boy agrees, "And they want us!" The Titans cheer. Control Freak then shows some classic shows like Jonny Quest, Josie and the Pussycats and Scooby-Doo. Robin states that if these cartoons can't stand the competition, then they don’t deserve to be on television. Control Freak sends the Titans to the game show.

Within a flash, the Titans think they're on Family Feud and Cyborg, Raven, Beast Boy, and Starfire cheer, though Robin remains doubtful. Then they face their opponents as the Scooby Gang appears. Daphne describes that they were being chased by the Zombie Zamboni at the old abandoned ice rink, while Velma on the other hand is concerned with Baron von Billfold. Fred decides to play along. Both teams are introduced to each other, and Cyborg is glad to meet the Scooby Gang, much to Scooby-Doo's joy. However, Control Freak also announces that the losing team will be cancelled. Still, the Scooby Gang are more interested in searching for clues.

The competition commences. Fred offers a handshake, but Robin slaps him away and believes he is hiding something. Cyborg guesses that he has Magnum P.I. chest hair, Beast Boy thinks he has an embarrassing tattoo, and Starfire believes that he is a devious real estate developer who is actually Baron Von Billford himself, but everyone is grossed out by Starfire's bold assumption. Control Freak insults the Titans as "abomination", which offends Robin, but this only makes the Scooby Gang win points. As for Daphne, she euphemistically describes the Titans as having great personalities. Although Velma is more interested by a wallet, she answers that the Titans are a bit noisy. For Shaggy and Scooby-Doo, Shaggy think that the Titans are not the brightest, which helps the gang earn points, but Scooby-Doo fails to answer the last question of the round. The Titans then huddle up, planning to find a way to avoid being eliminated. Robin believes that it is just people not knowing them well, but the four others assume it's due to his notorious baby hands. As Robin refuse to operate with the four others who actually guessed the correct answer, they end up losing the round.

As the second round begins, Control Freak is displeased that Scooby and Shaggy as well as Beast Boy and Cyborg are in pairs, but they respectively consider themselves as package deals. Cyborg manages to get Frank Welker right. Robin wants to refuse his turn-even though Fred does not want to admit he is voiced by said actor, but after being threatened by Control Freak, he has to admit that the Scooby Gang has a better morale than his team's.

Characters[]

Trivia[]

  • This is the second crossover of the series. The first one is "TTG v PPG".
  • This is the second Scooby-Doo related episode. The first was "The Cruel Giggling Ghoul".
  • This is the first episode to feature the original five-Titan lineup since "What's Opera Titans".
  • Casey Kasem, the original voice actor of Shaggy Rogers, has long since passed away. Therefore, Shaggy is voiced by Matthew Lillard (a long time replacement for Kasem) in this episode.
    • Kasem voiced Shaggy for 40 years until 2009 and Lillard took the role. (Though Lillard played Shaggy in 2 Scooby-Doo live-action films).
  • This is the second time Kate Micucci guest stars in the show. In the Season 1 episode "Parasite", she was Parry. But this time she voices Velma, who also voices her in the show Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?.
  • Scott Menville (who voiced Robin), Frank Welker, and Grey DeLisle are reunited from Shaggy and Scooby-Doo: Get a Clue.
  • TTG staff members, Michael Jelenic, Brady Klosterman and James Krenzke, in addition to Jeff Mednikow, Amy Wolfram and Ben Joseph, worked for Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!
  • The gangs break the fourth wall by saying that Fred and Scooby Doo are played by Frank Welker, and Fred denying that they are voiced by a Frank (which ironically he is).
  • Tara Strong, the voice of Raven, was in the first Scooby Doo animated movie Scooby Doo on Zombie Island as the voice of Lena Dupree, and she also voiced Trudy in Scooby-Doo! Camp Scare, Austin and Princess Garogflotach in Scooby-Doo! Mask of the Blue Falcon, Donna and a News Anchor in Scooby-Doo! Stage Fright, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy in Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Harley Quinn again with Lois Lane and Helen in Scooby-Doo! And Krypto Too!
  • The Telepics song during the chase of Control Freak and the Titans is called "When We Dancing".
  • This is the first time Raven's hair is shown when she is wearing her hood (in this instance, it is due to her turning her head backwards to wear her hood).
  • Hynden Walch, the voice of Starfire, appeared in three Scooby Doo projects by doing the voices of Alice May and Obliteratix in the show Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, Lena and Joan in Big Top Scooby-Doo!, and Mitzi Capaletto in Lego Scooby-Doo! Blowout Beach Bash.
  • This episode premiered during a premiere marathon on October 4, 2019.

Continuity[]

  • Robin's baby hands are once again mentioned by the other Titans.
  • Robin once again does the unmasking from "The Cruel Giggling Ghoul".
  • Control Freak once again attempts to cancel the series.
  • When Raven wears her cloak backwards as the Titans show their stupidity, it directly references "Brain Food", where she also wears her cloak backwards after Beast Boy made her dumber.
  • This is another episode where Starfire's disgusting theory about something ends up being right; others include "The Mask" and "The Teen Titans Go Easter Holiday Classic".

References[]

  • Family Feud is a long-running game show with many versions played over the years, Two teams of five players each compete. The game is based around surveys of 100 people who are asked to name something in a category with multiple possible answers (e.g., "Name a famous George", "Name something you might give as a gift on a date", "Name a reason a bride might not say 'I do' during a wedding ceremony"). All responses are worth as many points as people who said it so that a response said by 15 people would be worth 15 points. The contestants try to come up with all the responses given by at least two of the hundred people asked. Each round begins with a member of each team facing off. The one who comes up with a better response (said by more people) wins control. This team, going by turns, tries to name all the remaining answers. They win the round, and the points, if they can name them all. If the response is not on the board, the team gets a strike. Three strikes and the other team gets a chance to steal the points by naming one of the remaining answers. If the steal is not successful, the other team wins the points. Later rounds can be worth double or triple points. The first team to get 300 points wins the game. There's also a bonus round not seen in this episode.
    • The show is known by other names in other countries. The British version, for example, is called Family Fortunes.
    • The set seen in this episode is the one used on the original version, which was hosted by Richard Dawson and ran from 1976 to 1985. The theme song heard here, however, didn't debut until the Ray Combs version of 1988 to 1993.
  • When Control Freak mockingly asked why Mystery Incorporated were more entertaining than the Teen Titans, Cyborg mentioned Frank Welker, the voice actor who has played numerous roles, namely Megatron from Transformers, Slimer from (Slimer and) The Real Ghostbusters, Scooter from Challenge of the GoBots, as well as Fred Jones and Scooby-Doo (whom he started voicing in 2002).
    • Cyborg also appears to like all of the aforementioned characters voiced by Frank in this episode.
  • Control Freak mentions Scooby-Doo-styled chases in this episode.
    • The chase between him and the Titans is also a parody/reference of the one in the 2003 Teen Titans episode "Mad Mod".
  • Sir Vey, a non-playable character from Prodigy Math Game who is a question-asking knight, is mentioned by Starfire.
  • Magnum P.I. was mentioned by Cyborg when he guessed what Fred's ascot was hiding.

Errors[]

  • TBA
