"Four Hundred" is the 41st and 42nd episode of the eighth season of Teen Titans Go!, and the 406th and 407th overall episodes of the series. They are also the last two episodes of the eighth season.
After the Titans win an award for being the longest-running series in DC Animation, Superman banishes them to the world of stop-motion in order to try and get their show cancelled.
An advance screening of this episode took place at New York Comic Con in New York City on October 20, 2024, 41 days prior to premiering on television.
This special celebrates the show reaching 400 episodes, as well as it becoming the longest-running DC animated series.
The special was teased back in 2023 as being something that "has never been done before" by the production team.[1]
That being said, this is the first episode of the series to utilize stop-motion animation.
The episode's stop-motion segments were done by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, a stop-motion animation studio known for making popular stop-motion shows such as Robot Chicken, a show on Cartoon Network's late-night block, Adult Swim.
This is the first episode where Superman has a speaking role. This is also Superman's second speaking role in the series overall, after Teen Titans Go! to the Movies.
Kaye previously voiced Superman in DC Super Friends and the short series Tales of Metropolis.
This is also the first time somebody (as a hero) other than Control Freak, as a villain, tries to cancel Teen Titans Go!.
This episode ended up being the Season 8 finale. The reason for this is because in order to pay for the stop-motion animation, 10 episodes from the season had to be cut, thus resulting in Season 8 being a little shorter than usual.
These are the last two episodes to premiere in 2024.
This also marks the first time a two-parter and a season finale serves as the last episode(s) to premiere within a calendar year.
The fourth wall is broken throughout the entire special.
The Titans win the award for "DC's Longest-Running Animated Series".
The song, Four Hundred, is about how Teen Titans Go! rebooted a classic, gained popularity and became DC's longest-running animated show reaching 400 episodes.
When the Titans are transported into the stop-motion dimension, the Titans notice how different everything looks, and Robin tells them they are in a stop-motion special, and explains to them the concept of stop-motion.
Throughout the episode, Robin is concerned about their budget.
When Cyborg shoots the Snake Lady, her legs break apart, revealing wires underneath.
Robin says that they saved enough money that they were renewed for another season, with his communicator saying "NEW SEASON", serving as a teaser for the upcoming ninth season.
After the Titans defeat Superman and make amends with him, Superman suggests having a crossover series with the Teen Titans titled, "The Super Friends Meet the Teen Titans Go! Mystery Fun-Time Hour", to which the Titans decline.
When the Titans are on stage after winning the award, Raven thanks her Nana, Cat and Hank. She then says that’s she probably forgetting someone, an obvious diss at her father, Trigon.
When the Titans are controlling the Titan Robot, they are all in the same section of the interior of the robot, an oddity exclusive to this episode, as in other episodes, each Titan controls one part of the body in different sections.
Static (Virgil Hawkins) has a speaking cameo in this episode. However, he is uncredited.
This is the last episode to use the opening logo with Beast Boy turning into the 2016-24 DC Comics logo that was introduced in Season 5.
