Robin interrupts a rather uninteresting day at Titans Tower with some great news: he's booked a weekend vacation for the Titans at Silverlake, California! Besides cool locations, the neighborhood is full of extravagant, trend-setting hipsters. Starfire is fascinated by the hipsters, and so Raven suggests they visit the hipster-hot spot HafoSafo, a local foot clinic's revolving sign with a happy foot named "Hafo" on one side, and a sad foot, "Safo," on the other; legend says that a person who sees Hafo first will have good fortune all day—and if they see Safo first... not so lucky.
One quick Raven portal later, and the Titans are on the cool streets of Silverlake. Their excitement drops, however, when they see that the HafoSafo sign has collapsed. A big explosion knocked the two (apparently living) feet characters off the sign, and the only one who can fix it is the owner, an extremely powerful Foot Doctor... but he's been gone for days. A lily pad hints that he's possibly in the adjacent Frogtown, and so the group sets out to find him, hoping to rebuild Silverlake's treasured sign.
First, the Titans and their talking foot friends must cross a hipster-exclusive dog park. With the help of some stylish costumes, the team blends in with the cool crowd. However, a hipster dog senses Robin's inner lameness—their cover is blown! The Titans, ditching their outfits, are suddenly being chased by a massive crowd of dimwitted, zombie-like hipsters. The team sprints to the Lake of Silver, where it looks like they're cut off...
But thanks to Hafo's good luck, a hip red dragon named Ivanhoe rises from the lake and rescues the cohort. They sail across the dragon's back as he raps a dope song about Silverlake for them. After Ivanhoe drops them off in Frogtown, Robin quickly discovers a secret staircase—hopefully leading to the Foot Doctor. The steps are marked with letters, and a sign claims that spelling out a "hipster's tea" will show the way. Cyborg guesses that it's "kombucha," and so Robin steps forward; unfortunately, he starts with a "C" and falls through the staircase... and into a pool of disgusting kombucha tea.
Fortunately, Robin climbs out, and the team ascends the giant staircase, eventually falling off a cliff—courtesy of Safo's bad luck. At the bottom, the group finally finds the Foot Doctor... he's been trapped by the Frog King (the one who broke the HafoSafo sign out of hipster jealousy) and his new sign's feet minions, mean Mefo and fear-inducing Fefo. The two feet attack the rescuers, but Robin manages to free the Foot Doctor with a birdarang. Using supernatural foot healing skills, the podiatrist breaks the Frog King's new sign, which falls upon the huge amphibian and his henchmen, crushing them.
Back in Silverlake, the Foot Doctor fixes the sign, and Hafo and Safo return to their cool, rightful place. Beast Boy looks at the sign, thrilled to see Hafo and thus get a good luck burrito from the sky. Robin tries too, but seeing Safo first causes a scooter to instantly run him over...
The HafoSafo sign that appeared in this episode has a long history in Silver Lake. Clients have come to the foot clinic where the sign is located to seek treatment simply because they like it. Some even come with fan art and other self made products related to Hafo and Safo.
In September 2019, the Sunset Foot Clinic in Silver Lake moved to another location, and so the HafoSafo sign is no longer there (it had been up since 1985).[2]
Safo repeatedly broke the Fourth Wall by shrugging at the audience. The Foot Doctor also did the same at the end of the episode.
Continuity
Raven is seen unhooded for the 125th time in the series.
Frogtown's hidden staircase may be a reference to the "Word of God" footstep trap in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. This also has a word (Iehova) that must be walked across, and any wrong letter breaks away, leading to a cavern below.
Errors
While Teen Titans Go! uses the "Silverlake" spelling, the actual region in California officially uses a space, calling it "Silver Lake." However, some signs use the combined "Silverlake," too.
On some streaming services, this episode is paired up with the Season 7 episode "Feed Me".
This happened on Amazon Prime Video but was later fixed the following day.
