If you could go into any cartoon (Not being TTG), and take part of it, what series would it be?

    You know the drill.

I know what you are asking. BALDE!!! WHY ARE U DOIN DIS? NO 1 IS ANSERING ANITHING! Y WOULD U KIP GOING?

Well, because I enjoy it. Even though most people don't reply, I really really like asking this questions.

    • it's kind of hard now that you said TTG is out of the question, that makes it a lot harder for me to answer! I would have loved to be involved in the TTG universe...oh well. If I had to go to another one, it would probably be the original Teen Titans series. I liked the old much just as much as TTG. They are both good in their own ways. I would love to have a room like Raven's with a hint of Beast Boy (in other words gloomy and dark, but with video game consoles all around!)

      Teen Titans Original (loophole)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (I prefer the 2012 version, cause it's the one I watch the most)

Yeah, I think they chose Sky to win in Canada, because everyone was expecting Shawn. As well as to give Canada a female winner, so people would stop complaining about it. But her ending was terrible, she really did not deserve to win.

      DBZ FTW!!!

Shawn is awesome! He should have been the official winner, but I guess it would have been too obvious.

        Loading editor
    • I sort of liked Sky, but I lost respect for her after what she did to Dave and became such a hypocrite.

They did that with Lightning in the U.S. as well, because everyone thought Cameron would win. They never seem to follow the votes on the website.

        Loading editor
    • Probably because they had already planned everything out, meaning they already decided on which character should win. The voting thing doesn't mean anything, the creators already decided.

Ugh, I just can't believe they made Sky end up like that. I really liked her at first, but I just can't believe what a jerk she was to Dave and turned him into a depressed maniac. In the end she never really cared about her "friends", all she cared about was the money.

        Loading editor
    • Not to mention Sky was voted out early on. Because Dave voted for himself. Maybe it's because Sky was a know it all or something. She didn't appeal to me. I didn't like the whole Sky-Dave thing either, but Dave was getting a little obsessed too.

I was also confused what her feelings were. When Dave was being shot out of the canon, he's yells "Sky if you wanna get together after the show" or whatever, and notices she isn't there, and proceeds to be shot out, while Sky comes running like "Dave!", and "awww" when she was too late to say anything. While at the finale when Shawn and Sky had to team up with a random member, Sky wanted nothing to do with Dave as her partner.

    • I know! Ugh, Sky is really confusing!

    • With Sky, they wanted make a more "realistic" protagonist, after how poorly Zoey was received. But they only ended up making her a hypocrite who's painted as a hero. Sky is very overrated IMO, and gets far too much love just because she's a female winner.

Sugar is just Owen minus anything that's remotely likable about him. Never understood how she got so many fans.

    • Was Zoey really poorly received? So they make a "wanna be perfect" character and that is suppose to be more realistic? Sky was smart, and athletic, I don't know many people who are both of those lol. I think her being a female did have some to do with why they picked her. She was okay in the beginning, but she got worse as the show went on.

I guess because Sugar was more or less the evil character. It was upsetting when she beat Jasmine in that race thing.

Yeah, Zoey is very unpopular among the audience that's older than 8. She's often bashed for being bland and boring, as well as godplaying her way through All-Stars. Her relationship with Mike is also considered the worst in the show (though Dave and Sky is now coming close to taking that title). She was a total trainwreck in the second half, and the writers just did not know what to do with her. I don't think she would have half the fans she had if she wasn't the female winner, as people were like "everyone vote for Sky, give Canada a girl".

Sugar is so overrated. Some people say she's a good villain and was "strategic" because she broke up Dave and Sky, while others say you're not meant to take her seriously and is a comic relief villain. The fact one character can draw up such mixed interpretations really says something about how their written. And yeah, the Jasmine tree thing was really stupid, and was just writer favoritism.

Even in English, we still don't understand the show lol. That's why we watch it!

I wasn't aware Zoey was unpopular. I thought people liked her. I can see her being bland a little. She wasn't as "arrogant" and full of herself like most of the other girls in the show though. And uhhh, Mike. That is one of my least favourite characters xD do you like Zoey any?

I wouldn't say Sugar was good... I always thought of her as being dumb and lucky. I didn't even know people liked her! It would of been interesting if it was Jasmine who went on to the final 3 instead of Sugar.

    • Personally I'm neutral on Zoey, I used to like her back in ROTI, but not anymore. Over on Total Drama Wiki she has a massive hatedom. Hating her almost seems to be law, and the admins are like "I'm embarrassed she has any fans".

I have little positive opinions on Sugar, she's not overly popular, but still has too many fans for my liking. When I first saw her I thought she was going to be first or second out. Anyone would've been better than her in the final 3, except maybe Leonard.

    • Oh, that's pretty interesting. I'm not all that on top of TDI, so it's really interesting to learn Zoey is not well received. They still are just opinions. How many people do you think bash her over on TDI? I'm probably neutral too. I wouldn't go as far to hate her. She didn't really do anything wrong, other than liking Mike and coasting through TDAS.

And I agree! XD anyone (except for Leonard) definitely would of been better than Sugar lol. Even Beardo! (If I spelled that right lol).

    • They are opinions, and Zoey fans do exist (most of them hang out on DA), but the majority of the fanbase has a similar view about her, and she's been labeled a "Scrappy" on tvtropes. Even for people who don't hate her, a lot of them still admit she has a lot of grounds for improvement. I think her biggest flaw is that she's a satellite character, made only to be Mike's love interest, and had very little individuality and depth (aside from the Commando Zoey thing).

Yeah you spelled it right. Even Beardo would be better, though it's hard to imagine a whole season of him making silly noises.

I'm still a fan of Zoey, but, honestly, I think the writers could've avoided flanderizing her to just being worried about Mike nearly all the time.

Yeah, she had some potential I think. And the writers just kind of dropped the ball.

I do agree with you Stryzzar, Zoey was mainly used as a vessel for Mike's love interest. I don't even know why they let Zoey coast through All-Stars. Beardo was entertaining for the short time he was on, but I could safely say, that if he continued to be on the island, he would quickly get annoying XD

Those are a lot of characters you miss NightFalls lol. Are they going to bring back the original cast that you know of? I heard they are making a new season...?

        Loading editor
    • Me too. I heard they are planning to make ten seasons for the Total Drama series. I've watched every single episode from every season at least twice (way more times for the first three :P).

I find that the original cast (including Sierra and Alejandro) had characters with deep story lines and their own individualality. Each of them were different from the rest, and each played an enormous role thoughout the seasons.

After that all we had was the same basic goal, except that it was a whole new cast. The story lines were not the interesting and great, and it got a bit boring.

Even though they did bring back a few original season competitors, All-Stars was not all that exciting. The whole thing basically focused mostly on Mike/Mal and Zoey's relationship. It was obvious that they would be in the season finale, and it have been great to use a plot twist, but no they just made even more boring by keeping them together.

Now this sixth season (or fifth season part 2) was the season that was bringing Total Drama down. We get another new cast and more boring characters with even boring plots. I found this season to be the least exciting. I've only gotten a few favorite characters from that cast and the rest of the time I just felt mostly bored at how cheesy and boring the story lines were.

I wonder what they'll give us next...

        Loading editor
    • Zoey could've been so much more. Her original design made her a hipster, hence her mismatching label "The Indie Chick". But they changed it last minute and made her the "Nice girl protagonist". She should have been written more like Samey was, who had more development in 5 episodes than Zoey did in 2 seasons.

Tom McGillis said his ultimate goal was to make 10 seasons, but there's no guarantee of that, especially if another season flunks.

I think most people agree that the original cast was the best on the whole, they just seemed the most realistic, and intermingled best as a group. The other two casts (esp. the third), was full of very gimmicky unrealistic characters. While there are some characters from those casts I really liked, the cast on a whole doesn't compare to the original.

There's a spin-off that's currently in production called "Total Drama Presents: Ridoncolous Race", where some of the originals will return. Owen and Noah's voice actors will return, and it's been strongly implied their characters will be coming back as well.

All-Stars was really poorly written. Almost every character had to be ploughed through and kicked aside just to get Mike and Zoey to the finale. It was so obvious from the start that they would be making it to the end. By the final 3 episodes they didn't even pretend they were hiding it, and they dumbed down anyone who wasn't Zoke. The season itself has sometimes been dubbed "The Mal and Zoey Show".

TDPI was okay for me, but the cast really could have used better work. And there were too few interactions, with each character possessing about 2 main interactions. Not the best season, but not the worst for me. They let really popular character like Ella and Samey out too early, while they kept Sugar all the way to the end.

        Loading editor
    • 10 seasons in the series NightFalls? Wow. Yeah, I heard about that. That's a lot of seasons. The original cast, and early additions will always be better than most of the newer members. I guess, they just ran out of ideas, or didn't want to bother with the "deep story-lines" like they did early on.

All-Stars did focus on Mike/Mal and Zoey a lot :P I have no idea why. They are far from interesting. I'll admit, Scott is probably one of the better "new characters" they added. Since he goes against his team and everything. That was pretty unique for a "villain" to do.

How many seasons of TDI are out? 6? The last season being pahkitew island?

Was Zoey originally going to be a hipster Stryzzar? I did not know that! That's cool! I love beta when it comes to series. What "could of been". It's great! Do you know why they changed her to the "good girl protagonist"?

And LOL yeah, Samey did have a lot more development than Zoey ever did xD

Think we all are on a consensus here about the original cast of TDI being the best. They did have good chemistry and realistic qualities to them.

Is there anything else on "Total Drama Presents: Ridoncolous Race"? I wonder what that will be about. It's obviously not going to be about an "island" anymore is it? Lol.

Agree with what you said about TDPI. To me, it felt rushed. It was like 20 episodes or something? Barely any interaction with the characters. It was okay to me, but there could of been improvement.

        Loading editor
    • Actually Pahkitew Island was thirteen episodes long if I remember correctly, and it was actually the second part of season 5. I thought it was season 6, but for some reason the creators decided for it to be the second part of season 5. :/

        Loading editor
    • That would probably be a good reason why it's so short lol. Total Drama Island is too confusing!!! And hey, you free to get on chat for a little bit? =]

        Loading editor
    • @Ripto, I think they were trying to sell that season to the young kids who really like Mike and Zoey, even if it meant wrecking every other character in the season. They booted all the interesting characters too early, and we ended up getting the worst final 4 ever. Scott's a mixed bag, his "team killing" strategy is unique, but a lot of people thought he had it too easy for a strategy which shouldn't have worked that well. He's sort of considered a Villain Stu, where a Villain is practically invincible simply because the writers want him around. He's based off Survivor Contestant Russell Hantz who had a similar strategy of backstabbing all of his teammates and allies, but he never ends up winning the title of Sole Survivor.

It's technically 5 seasons, since production wise Pahkitew Island is Season 5 Part 2. No one really understands why they did that.

Yeah, her old character's profile hinted she was fond of "retro" things, and that she was an outcast in her hometown. She was supposed to be modeled after Zooey Deschanel's character on New Girl. In her audition tape, they still had traces of her old personality where she said she wanted to wear "horn-rimmed glasses" and go to "indie theaters", but that got forgotten in the actual series. You can see her original design here. Her current design was actually intended for Dakota, before they decided to make her look like Paris Hilton. I'm not entirely sure why they did it, only that it was a rushed, last minute decision to change it. I guess they wanted a likable girl protagonist in the season, and since Zoey's design was in the middle of being changed, they decided to make it her.

The original cast definitely fitted the show the best. The later casts were all so gimmicky and childish. I've never seen anyone say the later casts were better, at best some people said the second cast was equal to the first.

Total Drama Presents: Ridoncolous Race is a spin-off, and it will be very different to standard Total Drama seasons. While Total Drama is based off Survivor, Ridoncolous Race will be based off the Amazing Race, and will consistent of "duos" rather than teams. There's strong implications that Owen and Noah will be returning and they'll be a duo, but we don't have official confirmation yet.

Yeah it was 13 episodes, they've all been 13 since ROTI. They've promised the nest Total Drama Season (not RR), will contain 26 episodes and a full-length theme song. That was one of the main complaints of TDPI, where every character has only a maximum of 2 main interactions, with some characters having even less than that. TDI really excelled at that, and something the writers need to focus on.

    • I'm gonna say what might  have been the greatest animated series ever produced and was cancelled way before it's time, A series about one team that goes above and beyond the call of duty to do what's right and just and that series is:

      Green Lantern: The Animated Series

OK, I may have overdramatized the first paragraph, but it's the only animated series where I enjoyed the romantic interactions of the characters expecially Razor and Aya (RazAya?).

And besides? Who wouldn't want to be a Green Lantern? :D

    • That would be awesome to be a Green Lantern!

    • Were Mike and Zoey really that popular with the fans? I'm surprised to hear that. It was obvious the makers were giving them special treatment, they really did just ruin all the other characters so they could make it to the finals. Would Scott be considered a Villain Stu? Did the writers say they favoured him? Out of most of the characters in ROTI, Scott was alright. Better than Mike at least. Oh, and he's based off Russell Hantz? That is cool! The makers said that, or the fans just put two and two together?

Zoey's original design is hugely different. I never thought about her audition tape, but you are right. I wonder why they forgot to remove that part, or if they were being lazy. So Dakota was intended to look like Zoey's current design? That is interesting. No reason as to why they changed that though is it?

It's hard to be the original cast. They put a lot of good work into them. I suppose coming up with new characters is harder than it seems, and that's all they can produce.

Ridoncolous Race is going to be teams of two against other? And do you know why they cut the episodes down to 13 in each season since ROTI? I hope they do go back to 26 episodes, it's definitely hard to have interactions with the characters in such a short time frame.

    • Only among the really young portion of the fandom, of those under the age of 8. Fans older than that usually hate them, but the young fans are the ones the show was really targeting, so that's probably part of the reason they got through. Sort of, it's a very common view that Scott's antagonist strategy was terrible, throwing away every ally he had, and was able to easily convince who to eliminate with his little prep talk. Realistically he should not have lasted that long. In ROTI Scott wasn't that liked, mainly because of Dawn fans being bitter for eliminating her too early. However he became much more popular in TDAS, and is probably that season's most loved character. I don't think the writers stated that specifically, but we have a lot of Survivor analysts who were able to pick up the similarities between them: sabotaging their own team, finding the immunity idol, Dawn being like Russel Hantz's victims, being put on Team Villain in his second season .etc

Yeah, they really should have stuck with original Zoey. Almost everyone I've ever talked with thought her original character is an improvement to what she is now. I guess that's because Zoey's recharacterization was thrown together last minute, causing them to forget about the audition tape. Well partly, here's Dakota's original design, lots of elements were taken from Dakota such as the red hair, the flower, and outfit. By the end of Dakota's recharacterization, the only thing that remained is her green eyes. I guess they just had a last minute inspiration to make Dakota like Paris Hilton, but they didn't want to waste her design.

The original cast is what drew in the show's very large fanbase to begin with, so it rightfully takes credit as being the best. Classic case of Sequelitis, the original is often the one that is done right.

Yep, TDRR is a fairly different format to standard Total Drama since it's based off the Amazing Race, and apparently the show's format will be maturer. I'm not sure why the episodes got changed to 13, I guess it was cheaper, and the writers probably had other productions in mind so wanted to spend less time on it. Another factor that might have been in play was, during the time of ROTI's production, Japan just had the earthquake and the nuclear power plant incident. As a result the writers thought the radiation jokes were insensitive. So they delayed the release of the season, cut out a lot of the radiation references, and changed "radioactive waste" to "toxic waste". All of this excessive post-production editing may have been part of the reason why they cut it down. Though that is definitely one of the main reasons why every season after TDWT is so lacking in deeply explored interactions, especially TDPI.

I liked Scott, but he was pretty favoured by the makers I think by the way he coasted along. His strategy was unique in the show, but also all too convenient to work every time. I'll agree with that.

That Dakota design is actually kind of cute. I see they did recycle that design and give it to Zoey. Personally, she would of done fine looking like she did there, while Zoey had her original appearance.

TDRR sounds like its having a rough take off, hopefully it's still in the works or already out. I am curious about it.

    • @Ripto, okay I'll wrap it up.

Yep pretty much. While they still have a group of loyal fans, existing fans are growing up and they're losing love everyday.

Personally his antagonistic approach was interesting, and the idea of a "team killer" was funny. But one thing that people hate about antagonists is when they get they're way too easily, and if they eliminate fan favorites too early like Dawn. For me he's an okay antagonist, but I really hated him in "Grand Chef Auto" because he was a complete a**hole for no reason at all.

Agreed. Basing a character off someone else is fine, but there's no need to make them a near exact replica. Harold is inspired by Napoleon Dynamite, but he's still his own distinct character on his own. It would have also worked miracles for Zoey's fanbase. I don't know why TDROTI went overboard with all of the character expys.

It's still in production, the whole cast and voice actors haven't even been revealed yet. It's going to be quite different though.

    • Thank the skies. Mike and Zoey are easily my least favourite couple in the series. If they kept Zoey's original design and ditched Mike, then there would of been potential.

Yeah Scott was unique in terms of the other antagonists. Even if his method was all too convenient. Was Dawn that popular? I wouldn't of thought that. I liked her too, but I knew she wouldn't last. How was Scott a butt in Grand Chef Auto? Nice and GTA reference xD

Oh wow, never would of gotten Napoleon and Harold but I see the correlation now. I guess the TDROTI got too comfortable or either didn't care much.

Dang, still not out yet? I can't wait for it. I'm very curious.

    • Yep. The whole season would've been better without Mike, or not using mental disabilities as a comedic plot device.

Dawn was popular before the season aired, and everybody thought she was going to make it far. It was quite a shock she was eliminated so early. She started losing fans since she did so little in the season, but a lot of people still love her. In Grand Chef Auto, he blackmailed Mike into being his slave for the entire episode. He made him search through the trash, pulled his cart while he poked him with a stick, and stood on Mike's face so he could reach higher. I know Mike's a poorly written character, but no one deserves to go through that.

Yep, so many cartoon versions of celebrities and characters in the seasons.

I'll keep you posted. We do know four of the new characters, some of the VAs, and that Owen and Noah have a 90% chance of returning along with 2 unnamed original contestants.

    • Agreed :P Or at least changing his appearance to something better. He was a stick. Basically. And that hairdo... Okay no more critism for Mike don't want to be a broken record here xD

What was it about Dawn that was appealing? Her personality/looks? I liked her too but she had that naïve personality to her. Ohh I remember that episode. Didn't know that was the name. I'm surprised they got away with airing that xD

And alright cool :) Owen and Noah is a good start to the new series :D Hopefully they won't change them too much since I'm guessing a new team is going to be working with them.

    • Yep, he's got pencil arms but as Mal he's strong enough to crush Alejandro's wrist when he's twice as buff.

Well her design is really cute and unique, there's that whole intrigue about her "mysteriousness", she's the only character with psychic powers, and it helps that she's based off Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. Most of the Dawn fans basically keep bringing up that she has so much potential and could so a lot if she lasted longer, I sort of feel that way a bit as well. Yep, that was the episode made me really hate Scott.

Don't think so. It's pretty hard to change Noah since his personality is one-track and not complex. While Owen is the creator's favorite so I don't think he'll be changing much either. RR isn't "teams" like the previous seasons, it's going to be "duos" or "pairs" like the Amazing Race. It's very likely that Owen and Noah will be a duo at this point.

    • Nooo Mal Laughing emoticon. How can do that, he's so weak!

Cute and unique, alright lol I see. Her mysterious is intriguing yeah. I know she predicted the thing with Mike and Mal, but I wish it more clear when she hinted that, because I don't remember her being real clear about that. Some better foreshadowing would of been nice. Oh wow, is there proof to support she's based off Luna Lovegood? :0 That will make me like her a lot more. I suppose is she had her psychic powers, she should of seen her demise? xD

And that's good to hear. I don't like it when characters change. Since it's a new series you have no idea what they'll do. Kind of like at the end of TDPI where they did those pairs at the end? Like Shawn and Jasmine and such.
